Chief Administrative Officer

 

Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Business Administration and Hotel & Restaurant Management.  He brings 21 years of experience in the fields of hospitality business management, oil and gas remote site lodging accommodation and food services, along with six years of healthcare management in Independent Retirement Living, Supportive Living Levels 3, 4, & 4D plus Long Term Care facilities in both Alberta and British Columbia.  Working with the elected Board of Directors, Paul is responsible for organizational strategic direction, financial planning, policy development, organizational structure, standard operating procedures, risk management, fire & safety and emergency disaster planning, facilities planning, project management, human resource development and health and safety initiative programming.

Susan Macdonald

Financial Officer

 

Susan has over 23 years experience in the accounting, finance and human resources fields.  She holds an honours Diploma in Bookkeeping and is certified as Payroll Compliance Practitioner through the Canadian Payroll Association.  Susan provides strategic leadership in human resource management, accounting management and overall organization financial strategic planning.

Tabitha Dykstra

Resident Care Manager

 

Tabitha is responsible for all resident-focused care.  Tabitha has been with the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation for 12 years. She holds Medical Office Assistant diploma and Health Care Aide certification.  She brings to the organization a wealth of healthcare experience and enriches our care team in the areas if staff development and education. Tabitha represents the Foundation in the healthcare community within the Town of Vermilion and in surrounding areas.

Brittany Lysons

Recreation Director

 

Brittany is responsible for all the fun that happens around the Lodge and in Supportive Housing!  Brittany holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology and has been working in the recreation/volunteer recruitment field for 14 years.  She is responsible for resident program development and leads the strategic planning for resident programming, staff event engagement and represents the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation in the community.

Ryan Leahy

Facility Manager

 

Ryan oversees the Independent Retirement Living facility and Supportive Housing facility in building fire & safety planning, emergency disaster planning, facilities maintenance programs, building security & surveillance systems and building operations.  Ryan has many years experience in carpentry, site maintenance and emergency services and has a vast knowledge of building codes and facility operations.

Joe Zizek

Facility Manager

 

Joe is responsible for all facilities management and building operations for our government housing portfolio: Valley View Manor, Westend Manor, Parkway Manor, Pioneer Haven and the Town’s low-income Community Housing.  Joe holds many years experience in facility management, building life cycle operations experience and business acumen. Joe is also on our local Volunteer Fire Department and is a certified First Aid/CPR instructor.

Shirley Nelson

Environmental Service Manager

 

Shirley has been with the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation for over 38 years and is currently responsible for the housekeeping and laundry facilities operation at Vermilion Valley Lodge. We want to call her the “Mother of the Lodge” as she is loyal and very dedicated to the Foundation.  Back in her day she oversaw the Dietary Department.

Karen McCaig

Dining Service Manager

 

Karen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Science.  Her new passion is in the hospitality industry. She brings business acumen and experience in variety of food and beverage services, financial accountability, standards development, staff education and training, policies development and a strong customer service focus to her role. Karen is responsible for providing our residents, guests and visitors with an excellent dining experience every time they are seated in the Vermilion Valley Lodge dining room.
