About Vermilion & District Housing Foundation

We Make Independent
Living Possible

Vermilion & District Housing Foundation (VDHF) is a not-for-profit housing management body that provides a spectrum of accommodations to meet a range of needs throughout our community. Our goal is to support and empower independent living.

History of VDHF

VHDF has proudly celebrated and supported our residents for more than 60 years. We first opened our doors on April 11, 1960 to provide warm, welcoming, and affordable housing for seniors and families across our community. Since then, we’ve grown to serve eight municipalities:

Town of Vermilion
County of Vermilion River
Hamlet of Dewberry
Hamlet of Islay
Village of Irma
Village of Edgerton
Village of Chauvin
M.D. of Wainwright

VDHF owns and operates Vermilion Valley Lodge (86 rooms) and Vermilion Valley Lodge Cottages (8 units), where our residents can embrace all the comforts of carefree living. For those who require 24-hour healthcare access and daily homecare assistance, we offer 30 CCH Type B (formerly DSL3) studio suites, and we have also acquired the temporary capacity of 10 additional CCH Type B Secure Space suites (formerly DSL4) to further support the evolving needs of our residents.
