community housing
Upon rolling down the hill and entering the Village of Edgerton you will immediately understand why it is called The Friendly Oasis. “Home to big smiles, rolling sandhills, priceless memories, and unforgettable moments.” Community is everything here! The village was incorporated in 1917. Edgerton owes its birth to the railway arriving at the site of Edgerton in 1908. The Teacups to Tractors Museum is a must see. The Village has a K- 12 Public school along with Eagles Nest licensed childcare.
community housing
The local economy is supported by the oil and gas sector, agriculture, support to the nearby army base in Wainwright.
The Alberta Provincial Government saw the need for low income family housing in the area and acquired two existing homes in the Village of Edgerton. The two homes were previously managed by the Lions Management Group out of the Wainwright Office until the end of December 31, 2020 when the Lions Board of Directors dissolved the Lions Management Group and ceased to operate. Vermilion & District Housing Foundation had expressed interest in taking over the management of these homes and got approval from the Provincial Government on January 1, 2021.
The homes are perfect for growing families with children. Each home has 3 bedrooms, main floor bathroom, main floor living room/dining room, a full kitchen and an undeveloped insulated basement which can accommodate another legal bedroom. The homes have both front yard and backyard with plenty of green space and parking space for two vehicles. Both homes are in an ideal location, are safe for kids all ages, and within walking distance to shops, school and a playground.
