Chacutenah Manor
The Village of Irma is a small friendly community nestled on a hill surrounded by farmland 90 minutes East of Edmonton and 20 minutes West of the Town of Wainwright. It is renowned have a world class ballpark hosting youth tournament with as many as 37 teams. Each summer during Irma Days they also host the famous Irma Summer Spiel, a curling bonspiel in the middle of summer, as well as numerous other family events. The Village has a community arena, curling rink and beautiful golf course overlooking rolling hills and valley. The main economic industries are oil & gas, agriculture, and support to the military base in Wainwright.
The Alberta Provincial Government saw a need to build Self-Contained Seniors Apartments to support seniors with low income and in 1980 built Dewberry Heritage Villa I, which consists of 4 Plex Self-Contained Units. Each home has 1 bedroom , kitchen, dining room, living room, storage rooms, laundry room and green space in both front and back yards.
Chacutenah Manor
Chacutenah Manor was built by the Alberta Provincial Government to support local seniors in the area with affordable housing initiatives. It has 13 1-Bedrooms Suites. Each suite has a full kitchen, dining room, living room and one bathroom. There is a common area to socialize in if you choose as well as shared laundry facilities at no charge. As well, there is 1 Community Housing trailer in the Village to accommodate a low-income family with children.
