It is with sincere gratitude that the Living Well Capital Campaign gratefully receives a gift of $5,000 from Field Marshall Alexander Branch No. 11 Royal Canadian Legion.
President Garry Zayac and Poppy Chairman Marcel Lefebvre made the presentation. "When local businesses and individuals from Vermilion & Area purchase poppies to honour our Veterans and make donations for wreaths to lay in November, this allows Field Marshall Alexander Branch No. 11 to give back to our community. This donation is possible because of the community's support of our poppy program." Said Marcel.

Recognizing how critical it is for our community to honour our local seniors, to provide them with a respectful, affordable, safe, comfortable housing option, last February Rotarians pledged $75,000 to support the Vermilion Valley Lodge modernization project. It is due to the continual tremendous support the club receives from this community for their fundraising projects; the overwhelming success of their recent Harvest Gala, the Canada Flag project, and the Annual Rotary Garage Sale, that has motivated the local Rotary Club to increase its support for the Valley Lodge (VDHF) to $100,000.
Craig Brown, Vice Chair for the Living Well Capital Campaign, and a Rotarian himself, says "Our club is so proud to be a part of such a generous supportive community. It is truly because of the outstanding community support we recieve for all our fundraising projects that allows our club to invest back into our community for projects of all sizes."
The VDHF Capital Campaign is continually in awe with the overwhelming generosity of this community and Thanks the Vermilion Rotary Club for extending their gift to our area seniors.

Ireland Farm Equipment is a family owned business spanning 3 generations and over 55 years in Vermilion. Through that time, Bud and Rhea Baddock, son Brent and grandson Dylan have seen their agrictulture implement business grow and expand to continually meet the demands of their customers. In turn, Ireland Farm Equipment values and supports the community it serves.
Through that legacy, the Baddock family and Ireland Farm Equipment have chosen to support the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation Capital Campaign with sponsorship of the Recreation Kitchen.

Rick and Bonnie Donily, owners of Richardson Denture Clinic, have come forward to support the modernization of the Vermilion Valley Lodge with a generous gift of $10,000. Rick said, "The seniors in our area have given so much to our community, it's only right that we give back to them. We are honoured to be a part of this legacy project." Bonnie added "What moved me personally was the respect and dignity being shown for the residents with the much needed space and comforts included in the update and design of their home."

The growing need for seniors' housing is what prompted Dr. Lee Moneo, owner of Vermilion Eye Centre, to contribute $10,000 to the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation Capital Campaign. "The amount of people who will require senior housing is growing so fast, and we need more facilities. This is a great project."
It is predicted that within 10 years, 4,000 area residents will be over the age of 65. The Lodge is critical infrastructure in our community as a home enviroment when seniors no longer wish to manage a residence. The Capital Campaign is raising $1.5 million of a $14.1 million dollar project to upgrade and improve the Vermilion Valley Lodge.

Lorne Rye, Senior Business Development Representative, of Wawanesa Insurance was on hand to present a donationof $20,000 towards the modernization project at the Lodge.
"The Vermilion region is a huge supporter of Wawanesa, probably one of the largest in Alberta." Said Rye. He explained that the renovations at the Lodge meet the specific criteria of Wawanesa's capital projects and "it's a small way for our company to give back" to our valued clients, some of which have been with Wawanesa for 50+ years.
Craig Brown, Volunteer Vice Chair of the VDHF Capital Campaign, explained to Rye how Wawanesa's contribution towards the fitness room will benefit the overall health of the residents at the Lodge. "Many of the residents use the fitness equipment daily and having a seperate room in which to exercise is vital and safe. Presently they have a treadmill and recumbent bike in the hallway and have people walking by as they exercise."
Barry Clampitt and Jason Clampitt of Vermilion Insurance were instrumental in working with the Capital Campaign and Wawanesa to secure the donation. The VDHF Capital Campaign thanks Barry, Jason and Wawanesa for your support of our area seniors.

With a long history in Vermilion, members of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Chapter have worked together to build a strong community and support worth while causes.
Rex Cunningham, Worshipful Master, Masonic Lodge #24 and Hilda Bell, Worthy Matron, Queen Esther (Eastern Star) Chapter #22 present a donation of $25,000 to support the modernization currently underway at Vermilion Valley Lodge, following a vote of their members.
Rex noted "The Masons have a 112 year history locally of supporting worthy community projects."
"The Lodge is close to our hearts as it has been home to our members, neighbors, and friends over the years. Residents deserve a comfortable, safe home." Expressed Hilda.

$1.1 MILLION RAISED!
Dignitaries, friends and family joined in support of the Valley Lodge modernization project on November 19, and shared an opportunity to give back to the community and be a hero to our beloved seniors!
Capital Campaign Chair Brenda Lee announced the community has already raised $1.1 million of its $1.5 million community fundraising goal.

The VDHF Capital Campaign is pleased to announce that Webb's of Vermilion has donated $100,000 towards the modernization project at the Vermilion Valley Lodge.
"We feel that the Lodge expansion project is such an important project in our community." Said Scott Webb, Owner & Manager of Webb's Machinery. "As a business that has been around for 80 years, Webb's is thankful for the support over the years and now it is an opportunity for us to give back. It is something we have always done is give back to the community that has supported us."

LIONS CLUB DONATION

Thank you to the Vermilion Lions Club for their donation of $5,000 to the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation's Living Well Capital Campaign. The modernization project will be replacing the three oldest wings of the existing facility and creating a modern, comfortable home for our area seniors. Featured here is Lions Club member Barry Clampitt and Living Well Capital Campaign Volunteer Craig Brown.
The new building will include 52 new, 350 sq. ft. rooms, each with a small kitchenette and walk-in shower. Of the 52 rooms, 4 will be one bedroom couple's suites for a total of 124 rooms and a maximum of 130 residents.
