THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE VALLEY LODGE MODERNIZATION PROJECT A HUGE SUCCESS!
Check out the Living Well Capital Campaign video to learn more about the Valley Lodge Modernization Project!
The Valley Lodge is critical infrastructure in the Town of Vermilion. In rural Alberta, safe, affordable, and comfortable seniors’ housing within the community is essential for those who can no longer manage in their own homes. The Lodge keeps families together. It ensures seniors are well cared for, and provides those who might otherwise be isolated, with activities, recreational opportunities, and a sense of community.
Originally built in 1960, the smallest rooms are 150 sq. ft. and no longer fit the Government of Alberta’s standards. Viewing seniors’ housing as residences rather than medical facilities empowers seniors while honouring them and respecting them. It gives them the ability to live in places where they can continue to experience joy and thrive, while ensuring they are safe and their medical, social, physical and nutritional needs are met. A modernized Lodge will allow the seniors of today and tomorrow to not just live in the lodge, but to live well.
The total project cost is currently estimated at $14.1M. The federal and provincial governments have committed to $10.1M. The remaining funds required will be realized through fundraising and debenture financing. As a non-profit organization, the Foundation does not exist to make a profit; rather they work tirelessly to provide residents with an affordable housing solution. All funds raised will help to lower the amount of financing required which in turn ensures residents costs remain as affordable as possible.
Construction is well underway, please see our Construction Updates page for more information on the building progress.
